Sick Visits

When you wake up sick, you should not have to wait days or start over with a stranger. Established patients can often be seen the same day.

A mother takes her sick child's temperature with a thermometer while the child lies in bed.

Same-Day Care From Providers Who Know You

A sick visit is a short appointment for a new, acute problem, like a fever, sore throat, cough, rash or a minor injury. You see a provider in our practice who can pull up your chart, your medications and your past results.

That saves time and avoids mistakes. There is no urgent care detour and no need to explain your history from scratch. If you need labs, we can often draw them in our office during the same visit.

  • Same-day visits by request for established patients
  • Your chart, medications and history already on hand
  • In-office lab draws when a test is needed
  • Follow-up with the same team if you do not improve

Who It Helps

Sick visits are for problems that need attention soon but are not emergencies. For a medical emergency, call 911.

  • Colds, flu symptoms and lingering coughs
  • Sore throat, ear pain or sinus pressure
  • Minor injuries and new aches
  • Flare-ups of asthma or other lung conditions
  • New symptoms in someone with a chronic condition
  • Feeling unwell and not sure why

What a Sick Visit Includes

Each sick visit is built around the problem that brought you in.

A Focused Exam

Your provider asks about your symptoms, checks your vitals and examines you. Because they already know your health history, they can tell what is new and what is normal for you.

Testing When Needed

If your symptoms call for blood work, we draw it in our office. An EKG or a breathing test can also be done on-site when your provider needs one.

A Treatment Plan

You leave knowing what is going on, what to do at home and which warning signs mean you should call back. Any new prescription is checked against the medications you already take.

Follow-Up

If you are not getting better, you come back to the same team. You can also reach us through the secure patient portal with questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I be seen the same day?

Often, yes. Same-day visits are available by request for established patients. Call (727) 322-4227 directly, since online requests are answered within one business day.

Should I go to urgent care or my primary care office?

For a non-emergency illness, your primary care office is often the better choice because your provider knows your history and medications. If we cannot see you in time or the office is closed, urgent care is a reasonable option. For an emergency, call 911.

Is a sick visit covered by insurance?

Sick visits are billed to your insurance like other office visits. We accept most major insurance plans, and we also offer cash-pay pricing if you are uninsured. Call us to check your coverage.

What are your office hours?

We are open Monday to Thursday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Friday from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Calling early in the day gives you the best chance at a same-day visit.

Do you treat patients in Spanish?

Yes. Our team serves patients in English and Spanish, including Dr. Kathryn Syed, who is fluent in both.
