Frequently asked questions.

Quick, plain-language answers to what patients ask most — insurance, new patients, same-day visits, and how we care for you in St. Petersburg.

Getting Started

Do you accept my insurance?

We accept most major insurance plans. Because coverage and benefits vary from plan to plan, the best way to be sure is to call us at (727) 322-4227 — we'll verify whether we accept your insurance before your visit.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes. Affiliated Health Clinics is accepting new patients in St. Petersburg and across Pinellas County.

To get started, you can:

Our team will help you book your first visit and answer any questions before you arrive.

Do you offer same-day or sick visits?

Yes. We hold same-day appointments for urgent concerns. Call early in the day for the best chance at a same-day slot.

Same-day visits are a good fit for things like:

  • Sudden illness — colds, sore throat, flu-like symptoms
  • Infections, rashes, or minor injuries
  • A flare-up of an ongoing condition

For a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room instead.

How do I become a patient or book an appointment?

There are three easy ways to book:

  1. Call us at (727) 322-4227
  2. Request online using our appointment form
  3. Already a patient? Message us through the Healow patient portal

We'll confirm your time and let you know what to bring.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

To make your first visit smooth, please bring:

  • A photo ID (such as a driver's license)
  • Your insurance card, if you have one
  • A list of medications and supplements you take
  • Any recent test results or records from a previous doctor
  • A short list of questions or symptoms you want to discuss

Arriving about 15 minutes early gives you time to complete any new-patient paperwork.

Our Care & Services

What conditions do you treat?

We care for both everyday illness and long-term (chronic) conditions. Common ones include:

  • Diabetes and blood sugar problems
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Thyroid conditions
  • Kidney and heart-related conditions
  • Everyday illness — colds, infections, and minor injuries

We also handle annual physicals, women's health visits (including Pap smears — a routine cervical-cancer screening), and vaccinations.

What services do you offer?

We're a multispecialty practice, which means many services live under one roof:

Do you do bloodwork and labs in your office?

Yes. We draw most routine bloodwork and labs right in our office, so in many cases you won't need a separate trip to an outside lab. Your results are posted to your Healow patient portal once they're ready.

Do you treat children, or adults only?

We see patients ages 13 to 18 for school and sports physicals only. For all other care, we see adults 18 and older.

Do you offer telehealth or virtual visits?

Yes. We offer telehealth (video or phone) visits for many needs. Call us at (727) 322-4227 and we'll let you know whether your concern can be handled virtually or is better seen in person.

Do you offer behavioral health or mental health care?

We provide behavioral health care to patients who live in the short-term, long-term, assisted living, and independent living facilities we partner with. At this time it's offered through those facilities rather than as a standalone service for the general public.

Costs, Refills & Results

How much does a visit cost if I don't have insurance?

Self-pay costs depend on the type of visit, plus any labs, imaging, treatments, or orders involved — so prices can vary from one patient to the next. For an accurate self-pay estimate, call us at (727) 322-4227 and we'll walk you through the costs for your situation.

How do prescription refills work?

The fastest way to request a refill is through your Healow patient portal or by calling the office at (727) 322-4227.

  • Have your pharmacy name and the medication ready
  • Depending on how recently you were seen in person, we can provide a courtesy refill — generally a 7 to 10 day supply — to hold you over until you're able to schedule your next visit
  • Some medications require an in-person check-in before they can be refilled

How do I see my test results?

Lab results and visit summaries are posted to your Healow patient portal, where you can view them anytime. If you have questions about a result, call the office at (727) 322-4227 and our team will help.
