Spencer Threw is a locally trained physician who is excited to be back in the Greater St Petersburg area to provide care to patients of all ages. Dr. Threw attended the University of Illinois prior to moving to Bradenton Florida to complete his medical degree at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. After completing Family Medicine residency, he chose to take an additional year of training in Sports Medicine. He completed his Sports Medicine fellowship with the prestigious physician team at University of Louisville, where he cared for over 650 Division 1 student athletes.
As a previous college baseball player, Dr. Threw relished his opportunity to care for student athletes, but don't let the title of "Sports Medicine Physician" confuse you. His Sports Medicine training allows Dr. Threw to care for all of his patient's aches, pains, strains and sprains.
He is an expert in musculoskeletal ultrasound and therapeutic injections. He performs a variety of ultrasound guided injections for common arthritis, with a goal of getting his patients back on their feet and active. He has additional training in Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections for a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, and offers this service at his clinic. He has served as team physician at many levels and for numerous sports including the Triple-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, the Louisville Bats. He has additional interests in exercise science, nutrition, and men's health and wellness. He is committed to providing the highest level of care for his patients and all of their healthcare needs.
